How To: Evaluating output from SAP STAR Assessment

At some point during your SAP S/4HANA migration project, the topic of how legacy SAP ECC On-Premise Named Users (NUL) quantities and types compare to the respective SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management Users or Full User Equivalent requirements, will raise its head.

The Authorization Object Analyzer (SAP Note 3113382) provided by SAP enables customers to simulate SAP S/4HANA user requirements on a like-for-like based on their existing SAP landscape. SAP offers to interpret the results and further analyse optimisation potential with its S/4HANA Trusted Authorization Review (STAR) service.

For customers wanting to go it alone, here's what you need to do:

  1. Implement SAP Note 3113382.
  2. Export (if you want to compare with other data sources, select Export instead of Export to SAP.
  3. Execute t-code SA38 and generate report  SLIM_USER_CLF_HELP. Upload previous execution.
  4. Select overall license quantity hyperlink and export.
